My name’s Anna. I am an artist and an animator based in Minsk, Belarus. Although I do computer graphics I personally favor traditional mediums. Nowadays, it’s mostly graphics for me, though I’m also interested in painting and various mixed media. My experiments with form, technique and materials are, first and foremost, a way to expand my horizons and see the unusual in the mundane. It is my opinion that inspiration is in everything, be it the works of great masters or random blotches of ink on a scrap of paper. I draw inspiration from a multitude of historical periods, from the cave art and the masks of the ancient tribes to the modern conceptual art. I also find it important to pay attention to a variety of modern art movements, especially the experimental and the avant-garde. I personally adore frame-by-frame hand-drawn animation, where line becomes a living thing and the characters are life-like. I’m in the constant search for new forms. From blending various styles I discover something new, something of my own. The mystical and the grotesque, that’s what draws my attention. The archetypes and symbols, the works of Carl Jung. I am drawn to the circuses, to the masquerades and the fares. They to me are a complex, sarcastic, playful and almost metaphysical metaphor for our life.
