ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I created this piece specifically for a group exhibition i was a part of. The theme was "ghosting". I decided to depict a barrio or neighborhood which is confronting a monumental building, to contrast many ideas: oficial vs. improvised, lived in vs empty, cramped vs. vast, in constant construction vs. established, personal vs. impersonal, people vs. authority, etc.

The gradual decay of Gazcue and its eccentric Art Deco architecture has always been impactful for me. In my art, i reconfigure the images absorbed throughout the years in an attempt to find some peace through that which i control, even if it's just an imaginary affair.
