It's been so long since I've made it to a nice evening at the beach, I just had to create this painting. I'm often times in my studio couped up at my easel with the same old atmosphere. Painting scenes that I dream to visit, like this beach, really inspire me to get into the scenes mood and let my mind, emotion, and the medium speak out. I love painting sunsets, and this was no exception. I entered this painting into my first ever art contest for the beginner pastel themed challenge "The Sea" hosted by the "Monet Cafe'. To my delight I won first place and was awarded with a plethora of praises and encouragement from the "Monet Cafe" members and admins. Hard and soft pastels on 12x12x3/4" Birchwood wood panel coated with liquitex clear gesso. Finished with sennelier and blick final fixatives. All materials are Archival and acid-free Ready to hang on wall as is, or a frame can be added to cradle the wood panel and add size to the display of this original painting.

Matthew Macheski, 33, is an emerging artist from Chester County Pa, just outside of Philly. Giving most of his attention to landscapes, he has quickly weaved his way through the artworld and it's lovely unique mediums. Relatively fresh to the scene, Artwork has only been an integral part of his life since the fall of 2018. Starting with Spray Paint Art, he has worked his way though to oil paintings, oil pastels, soft pastels, pyrography, and most recently acrylic impasto works. Matthew's early art life was limited to some time spent doodling comic characters as a kid. In middle school he was accepted into the gifted program for art and music and enjoyed the intense training for the year the program was still around. He took two years of graphic art design in high school and that was it for formal training. He went on to college for music and kept that as his main creative outlet. It wasn't until his early thirties when he shook that first can of spray paint that he realized that's what he was meant to do all along. Strange how things work out. Many themes tend to present themselves in Matt's works, including landscape, nature, sunsets, water, and impressionism. His span of works includes Space themed intergalactic spray art, to Bob Ross style ala prima oil paintings, thick impasto acrylic works, through impressionistic views of the world around him. He is a member of the Monet Cafe group, and has been a contributor on their site for the last year. Signing up for his first ever art competition, he won the July "Sea" themed challenge with his painting, "Sunsets and Some Wine". He has won Honorable mention with several of his works in other months and also won the November challenge. The theme was Fall and the winning piece was titled "Autumn Walks II"
