ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The women in this drawing called “The First Kiss” are my friends. I met them when I was in art school. Like many people, they had never posed nude for an artist before. Most people come to pose for me because they love art and want to contribute to my creativity. I like to let the models choose their own poses and by doing so the imagery is different and more natural. I believe in letting my models be themselves. In the past, I have worked in my models' homes where I discovered that when a model feels secure a different kind of imagery and emotional quality can be had. This drawing is part of my ongoing intimate moments series. This work of art is done on acid-free paper. The drawing is created in Rapidograph Ink, Liquitex Professional Acrylic Ink and Winsor & Newton watercolors. The work is signed. I provide a certificate of authenticity.

Stewart Fletcher’s paintings, drawings and works on paper have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past forty years. His paintings, drawings and works on paper are part of several private international collections in over 20 countries and in 36 American States. Known for his fascination with the human body, Fletcher explores various concepts beyond the representational image. The great equalizer he believes is when one's clothing is removed. All identifiers and societal statuses disappear and the real person appears. Fletcher does not believe that his work is erotic, however some people do because of their social, religious and regional upbringing. He often uses humour and satire to convey his views on the world around him..
