ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The artwork is inspired my son who is a musician and uses improvisation in his performance. The work is not of my son but a generic musician. I used the idea of improvisation to produce a drawing in black and white using black ink , oil pastel and pencil using expressionistic technique.

I was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire. As a child I would constantly be found with a sketch book and pencil in my hands, a love of drawing which i maintain to this day. After leaving school i continued my love of art by starting work as a trainee artist for an advertising agency whilst also attending Leeds school of Art. After a break of several years during which i worked as a professional musician i resumed my interest in art and attended Swarthmore College, where i studied painting and life drawing for three years under the tutelage of Mary Lord. I am married with two children and currently lives in the Holme Valley, West Yorkshire. I am an exhibiting member of Leeds Fine Artists.
