ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work was inspired during a dark period of my life as I struggled to face and process difficult childhood memories. I could feel them in the back of my mind just waiting to surface. This drawing gave those memories a shape that somehow made it easier to look at. I knew it was scary but creating this visual gave me sense of control. A monster seen is so much better than one unseen. I chose charcoal because this picture has no color for me. The dark contrast felt right.
