About The Artwork

Is a series of drawings and paintings, a collection of many shapes founded in daily life. This kind of "collection" is a sort of process that leads to abstraction. I felt inspired by the sentence of E.H.Gombrich: «Perception always stands in need of universals. We could not perceive and recognise our fellow creatures if we could not pick out the essential and separate it from the accidental-in whatever language we may want to formulate this distinction». (“Art, Perception, and Reality”, E.H. Gombrich, Johns Hopkins University Press 1973) The painting aim to show my personal process of abstraction: a sort of game between forms and colors.

I was born in 1988 in Italy (Turin), where I live and work. Each of my projects is a paradoxical attempt to decontextualize: I try to make myself neutral, with the aim of highlighting the impossibility of being objective with respect to the perceived. I extrapolate images from a precise context, cutting them out, memorizing them. I relocate them elsewhere and isolate them with the dual aim of eliminating meanings and opening new ones. What motions occur in our brain when we create something? Creative thinking is a way of using thought, a way that generates variations to the usual course of our reasoning. I am interested in investigating this variation. In order to relate to its environment, man has always created codes such as language, units of measurement, classification systems. These tools are essential for interacting with the surrounding reality and with other people. What happens when a code, a thought pattern, is subverted? There creative thought comes into action: a real movement of cells that generates new synapses, new paths in our brain. This process occurs not only in the act of creating a work of art, but in all situations where it is essential to find a way out, a plan b. Here, literally, if “we use the brain”, the solution emerges. Subverting the royalties does just that.
