Variations on the Line (panel 2 of diptych) Print

A study on the concept of the line as a key visual element in drawing. The idea behind this piece was to work with line as subject. This diptych was executed in charcoal on gessoed panels. There are rendered elements that lean more toward representation while other elements occupy a more abstract space. The viewers gaze thus transitions from one mode of perception to another. This piece is Panel 2 of the diptych. There is a companion piece, panel 1, that can be displayed vertically with panel 2 to create the diptych. The narrow dimensions of panel 1 prevented the image from uploading. Please view the images on the sidebar to get an idea of how it would appear together.
