About The Artwork

THE ATTIC "Getting rid of a useless object that I hardly pay attention to once a year somehow means getting rid of a part of my life, but keeping it unused means having to face his silent reproach every time I open the closet door" Deyan Sudjic. We cannot talk about accumulation and not talk about the attic, and when I say attic, I mean all those spaces created for storage, such as the attic or the storage room. And it is incredible that our need to accumulate is such, that just as we dedicate stays for such vital things as eating (kitchen) or sleeping (bedroom), we have a space within our homes exclusively dedicated to accumulating. The loft is the great representative of accumulation. If the fact of retaining has a direct relationship to the bond and the anchoring, the fear of change, not wanting to get rid of the image of what we were, this image becomes much more tangible if we retain part of the "props" of that moment, and it is in the attic where we will find a large part of that "props", of those furniture, lamps, figurines, etc. that were part of the scene of our experiences. And it is that it could be said that they are the most poetic and at the same time sickly parts of the house. Poetic because they are dreamlike places, they refer us directly to our childhood to our memories, it is the secret reserve of objects and feelings, but sickly because they are the living sample of that dependence on our possessions. Places where valuables intermingle with trash creating a strange amalgam of dreams and fears. In these spaces, the objects are no longer individual, but become a mass created by layers and united by dust, which covers the whole and gives it uniformity. In addition, the attic also represents that inability to be critical when it comes to preserving things, to know if things have value or not, and the attic has another primary role, that of prosecutor. When an object reaches its "death" but there is something for which we are not sure whether to get rid of it, (usually the idea of longing regarding its current function: "perhaps it will still serve") it is taken to the Disaffected Reserve. This will save us from having to face the fear of getting rid of something that we do not know if it really has value or not. It is the limbo of objects, where only time will decide if it becomes garbage or an object of value.

artista multidisciplinal. Statement: From my own experience of attachment towards my possessions , I started Investigate about the links develop people with the objects around us , the need to retain and limits between possession and obsession. I am interested in mainly the limit between what is considered normal and diseased , reconsidering the parameters that define that things. From this personal experience , I was treating this issue in a more general way , focusing especially on everyday acts related to different forms and patterns of accumulation , from Conservation International as souvenirs to collectibles . I also interested in the spaces dedicated to the act of accumulating like The attics , storage rooms , cabinets, etc . The type of objects preserved there and how these objects behave in different spaces . The attachment, Accumulation , Vacuum Fear , Obsession and memory are key words in my work .
