About The Artwork

Entertainment is a distraction from reality. It is an almost infinite resource of information, diversion and satisfaction, that we have access to through T.V. and the Internet. However, we are using it in increasingly frivolous and farcical ways, indulging the mind-numbingly mundane in their attempt at fame and celebrity. This installation brings together the notion of a fractured, or dead, system of entertainment with the dream like videos of ‘It’s Alive, Remember’ and ‘Reset. The Space Between Sleep & Wake’. These are immediate and instinctual highlighting the foundation of idea and creation, without the need for materialism or a ‘T.V. personality’. WORK IS FOR SALE, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH TO NEGOTIATE PRICE AND SHIPPING. CANNOT OFFICIALLY PUT FOR SALE BY CONVENTIONAL MEANS ON HERE, AS CURRENTLY HAVE NO MEANS OF MEASURING WEIGHT, ETC.

1990, England By questioning social norms, contemporary culture and current artistic practices, my practice is meant to challenge what we expect from our society and ourselves. Primarily my practice stems from an examination of what it is to be human. Physically, Metaphysically and Socially. Although the main body of my current work deals with digital photography and photographic manipulation, I allow the idea to inform the material, rather than the other way around. I am particularly interested in Deleuzian notions of the body (as examined in my undergraduate dissertation 'Plastic Trauma: How Physical Interventions to the Human Body are Perceived in Contemporary Art', for which I won the University of Plymouth's 2013 Critical Studies Award) and Darwinian notions of evolution. I utilise theories such as these to underpin my work. Narrative also features strongly in my practice, in a variety of forms.
