ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This artwork is part of the 'Butterfly' series, combining two canvases into a single piece measuring 162.2x130.2cm. The abstract forms radiating from a central point distort the shapes of four cars, giving the impression of a dynamic forward motion. The butterfly shape in this piece draws inspiration from the concept of the 'butterfly effect.' The butterfly effect suggests that small changes can lead to significant consequences, reminding us of the regrets and missed opportunities of the past. Although we cannot change the past, the artwork conveys a message of hope and ambition, emphasizing that we have the opportunity to shape the future. The radiating lines from the central point symbolize dynamic movement towards the future, highlighting how a small beginning can transform into substantial future changes. The various directions of the lines represent the multitude of possibilities and choices we face, reflecting the complexity of modern life. The mixed media of acrylic and embroidery threads used by the artist represents artificial lines and speed, embodying the allure of the city and the human will to find new paths within it. This artwork also visually manifests the passage of time and the expansion of space, symbolically representing personal growth and change. Through this, the piece conveys an important message to the viewer: the choices we make in the present shape our future. Instead of dwelling on past regrets, the focus is on living fully in the moment and envisioning positive changes for the future. The title 'Butterfly' symbolizes the hope that a small flutter can bring about significant changes in the distant future, encouraging viewers to recognize the positive potential of the future.

Throughout my life, I have expressed myself through art. From a young age, I have been fascinated by time and speed, and as an adult, I have come to express myself through the subject of automobiles. As time has passed, my artistic focus has shifted from emphasizing the external allure of automobiles to expressing their inner strength, developing a unique style. In my current work, I depict distorted car shapes as metaphors for the modern generation’s pursuit of happiness and the self-determined paths carved out amidst intense competition. Utilizing acrylic paints, I employ a squeegee scraping technique and incorporate embroidery to create artificial straight lines, conveying notions of speed and temporal forms. This fusion of methods allows me to explore the dynamic interplay between abstraction and representation, reflecting the complexities of contemporary existence.
