ClownBot Print

Every time I sit down to my computer and see a blank canvas if you will, there is a creative process that usually results in nothing at all. The inspiration for this image came to me around 5 in the morning while I was taking apart and manipulating strands of smoke, altering the colours, the thickness, the positioning until at one slight inclination there appears to me some kind of image. I actually have no idea what it is, or what will come of the original material on my computer until well into the creative process that usually starts around 3 am, when the house is totally quiet and theres no one around. I twist and turn and shape and shift and cut and paste and colour and change hues and shapes adding layer after layer manipulating the images. I don't actually create, as much as see and then add while the image creates itself in my minds eye after that eureka moment. I am the creator of the image no doubt and it's my eyes that see what is hidden, but the process is totally random and cannot be duplicated no matter how hard I try. The process is always unique and always random and no images will ever be even remotely the same. I hope to convey an idea of raw creation and detail as well as interpretation but one that has a created design and purpose at the end of its creation. If you see what I see when I created the image then I consider that to be a success for my art as it will have conveyed what was in my minds eye, but you're free to feel what ever you want and see what ever you want aside from my interpretation and manipulated digital material. To me this is clearly a clown with big clown hair, freaky eyes and a robotic smile. I also decided to add a heart to the robot to share a juxtaposition of coldness and the warmth of a heart even though it's clear from the image that the robotic clown doesn't convey any emotion other than perhaps in those that view it.
