The initiation into the art world happened in early 90s in Bucharest, right after communism's emblematic fall. I was studying economics at that time, when I was introduced to the very nonconformist and vibrant artist milieu gravitating around the painter Victor Bratu. That marked a turning point in my career and art became my obsession and a way of life. They were the years of change, hope and disappointment. I’m a person of my time, deeply anchored in the world I live in, but somehow detached and standing apart like a spectator of the show. I am in a continuous search for the most honest artistic expression, embracing old rituals and cliches while struggling hard to avoid them. I'm mostly interested in exploring the underneath of humankind that is steadily losing humanity. I use different mediums, from painting to photography which I incorporate into larger installations. I love using generously poor materials, with a touch of nostalgia for the pre-Tech times, like ancient objects, disassembled mechanisms, recycled canvases etc. I have a fascination for rust, decay, perishable, vulnerability. I’m a supporter of low-fi art. However, I do not reject technology, I just set it where it belongs, getting together on board to the unavoidable dystopian future.
