ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The cat sees the little fishes' home and thinks, it looks so comfy and wonderful, I think I want that life. He jumps in and finds it's really not so great, unless you are a fish. My mid century modern illustrations are my way of depicting life with its ups and downs, ins and outs, good and bad, and just plain old every day stuff! Each print goes through a process of searching for some nostalgic element and then recreating it into the life of the everyday black cat. I chose to depict in MCM because I was born in the 50s and it's just very nostalgic for me and fun to draw! Original is printed on a wood panel, signed and dated with certificate of authenticity.

After retiring from a long career as a nurse, the past five years were spent on the road with my husband traveling across the country in our RV. During that time, I began journaling and discovered a love of collage and acrylics. At the same time, I began experimenting in an app called Procreate, using my photos and handmade paper to create digital collages. This all stopped when the pandemic hit. We opted to return home to Florida. I found my creativity had dwindled and it was a difficult year with little artmaking. In 2021, I began to feel a little hope. I made a commitment to start creating outside of my journals. Over the months of 2021, I found new inspiration as I jumped from personal journaling to creating work to share with others. It was a time of change and emerging. It is a new beginning in my creative journey.
