There is a story in the materials chosen for this collage. A picture of a WWI soldier hangs on the wall behind a table with a vase of Cala Lillies. On the table are two letters that are postmarked 1917, and the floor is made from war letters home, signed by a man named Raymond. Taken together, it tells a compelling wartime story.

Through my artwork, I want to bring back what has been lost to time. I construct collages out of paper ephemera from the 1850s to the 1970s. Ledgers, checks, documents, and letters; at one time, these papers were very important to the people who owned them. Although these older methods of recording and tracking the details of daily life have become obsolete, they have a tiny spark left in them. I add vibrant colors and whimsical patterns to these mundane materials to create something altogether new. My hope is that the viewer will look at the interplay of the past and the present in my work and feel a sense of delight.
