ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Pomona is the Roman Goddess of fruitful abundance. I named my vegetable garden after her. My garden is 22'x22', rather small, It is organic and I tend it with hand tools. The recent harvest was abundant for the size of the garden. The inspiration and reference for this digital painting is an ancient Roman statue. The statue is approximately 1300 years old. Prior to this Roman conception the Greek Goddess Demeter had similar characteristics. Prior to the Greeks the Sumerians named their goddess of agriculture Nibada. I enjoy feeling a part of a stream of creations that have been developing for many centuries. I think that if you live with this image in your home, that she will inspire you to be abundant in whatever you field you endeavor to cultivate.

I live in the deep country of Washington Parish Louisiana where I have a beautiful studio. Our property is on a creek and we have some land on a hill. Nature is a jungle jumble here, sooo beautiful. It satisfies my deep need to commune with Mother Earth. As a child I grew up as an Air Force brat, moving about and experiencing diverse cultures. " I've been everywhere, Man." (Willie Nelson) "Daddy always kept moving so she did too." (Neil Young) North, south, east and west. Paris, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Central America. Where ever I have been I have savored the various local arts. When I was six years old the Air Force moved us to Japan. You might call it culture shock, my young mind expanded when I experienced art and culture so different from the USA. I paint or photoshop almost everyday and have done so for many decades. Nature and creating art are necessary for my peace of mind. Art is a path to explore my own mind and to connect with others on a deep level. I follow my muse, choosing from a multitude of different byways that beacon to me. Maybe you will see where my imagination flows. Maybe our minds will meet. I garden organic veggies and flowers. This is creative and at my age I need the motivation of gardening exercise to keep my joints oiled. I am married to a wonderful man, I am a Mom and Grandmother, and Great Aunt. We have loving get togethers for holidays.
