Legend says that Pieter Both was a normal man who surprised some fairies during a stroll near a lake. The fairies asked him to not divulge his finding and in return they would not hurt him. Pieter promised but as soon as he reached his village, he told anyone who would hear him about the fairies. Since he broke his promise, the fairies turned him to stone, and so this mystical mountain was created.
