ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I am generally interested in the process of creating and in the formation of surreal objects and spatial ambiguities. With this series I began with the abstraction of a found painting of a skull, this reinterpretation on canvas was then cut and reassembled onto the original frame. Finally a photograph (which was then manipulated in photoshop) is taken of the work in conjunction with various lighting effects, in order to express and enhance the colors, textures, reflections, shadows and transparencies inherent in the final artwork.

Originally from Columbus Ohio, I graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Architecture, where I worked with the Architectural theorist Jeffrey Kipnis on my first large scale installation, a back-lit wall of bee's wax. Two years after graduating, I moved to New York in November of 2001. Since that time I have been working as an artist, engaging with various mediums and styles of art, with a studio in the Brooklyn, USA as well as in Eltville, Germany.
