This image is part of a series of artworks that give recognition to the pioneers in aviation. The Hughes H-4 Hercules (commonly known as the Spruce Goose; registration NX37602) is a prototype strategic airlift flying boat designed and built by the Hughes Aircraft Company. Intended as a transatlantic flight transport for use during World War II, it was not completed in time to be used in the war. The aircraft made only one brief flight, piloted by Howard Hughes, on November 2, 1947, and the project never advanced beyond the single example produced. The painting is a celebration of this aircraft with bold and vibrant colors. I love to paint subjects of science and technology in a contemporary manner! I hope you enjoy. More to come! Frank

Martin’s appreciation of industry was bred during and after his college years. His minor in photography as well as a variety of mentors in his early years ignited his appreciation for design, art and industry. His architectural and engineering training exposed him to various industrial locations and settings. One of the most formative experiences was being exposed to the world of industrial photography. While the photographers were focusing on capturing the processes, Martin saw the beauty in the colors and forms being captured. Martin eventually went on to open a graphic arts and printing company and while there developed and extended his techniques. Over the years, the range of projects and clients grew. Martin saw great opportunity to bring artistry to areas of industry and business that heretofore had not been translated into art. The current focus on cities, aviation and financial related artworks has struck a chord with the industry. The need for artwork that was more creatively focused has been gaining great popularity. The colors and textures as well as technical and historical accuracy have led Martin to some remarkable venues and outstanding projects with individual and corporate clients worldwide.
