ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspiration is based on a conversation about my dating choices in Men, when i was asked by a friend. If i have a particular preference for an ethnic group. I leans towards Black, Native American, and Asian men in my personal relationships habits. Regardless of which part of the Americas they are from. Most of the men who attract me are located in the major epicenters of the US culture and life, where you will find the majority Gay/Queer BIPOC men are located. The viewers I am aiming towards with this particular work are Gay men in their 20's, 30's and even 40's who are in this demographic of people who find their hearts are in our major urban environment. Who will find the story behind the work relatable and find a sense of themselves, and their interpersonal relationship structure within this mixed media drawing of mine.

Arthur Sangster is a Queer painter born and raised in Saint Louis who received a BFA in New Studio Practice from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and awarded the David and Reva Logan Foundation grant in 2021. He is an emerging artist who has shown work in group shows in Chicago and Milwaukee, during his time studying at MIAD. Arthur Sangster does work on Queer Sexuality, Identity, and romance and relationship experience with each painting focusing on a specific theme. Regarding: lost of an ex, avoiding trauma consumption, feelings and difficulties within interracial situationship within the punk scene in South City Saint Louis, and dealing with coming into his truth with his sexuality and orientation. His some of his recent paintings are influence by specific text and quote from music and specific figures who have discussed their relationships.
