About The Artwork

F-Curves: 10110 Series Where Art meets Science. These artworks are an addition to the 'Fibonacci Squares' series originally produced in 2020. This series includes 'negative spaces' - the Fibonacci curves were composited and then used to create square and rectangular spaces, combined with the original elements - the overall effect is one of tranquility and calm. The simplicity is enhanced further by using only flat graphic colours. These artworks work well framed with simple gallery-style frames - designed to look great individually and also work well as a series. In geometry, a golden spiral is a logarithmic spiral whose growth factor is φ, the golden ratio. That is, a golden spiral gets wider (or further from its origin) by a factor of φ for every quarter turn it makes.* These artworks were part of a collection of elements for a series of Alan Turing portraits. As usual, I went off on a tangent. • Type: Fine-Art Print • Medium: Giclée • Materials: 100% Cotton Paper • Paper: Hahnemühle German Etching • Edition Size: Gallery Edition of 25 • Paper Size: 30" x 30" • Image Size: approx. 24" x 24" • This artwork is sold ready to frame • Includes: Certificate of Authenticity • Signed by the Artist in pencil on the front** Extremely flattered to be included in the Saatchi Blog 'Art We Love' A Few Painting Techniques Artists Use Explained. *Approximate logarithmic spirals can occur in nature (for example, the arms of spiral galaxies or phyllotaxis of leaves); golden spirals are one special case of these logarithmic spirals. A recent analysis of spirals observed in mouse corneal epithelial cells indicated that some can be characterised by the golden spiral, and some by other spirals It is sometimes stated that spiral galaxies and nautilus shells get wider in the pattern of a golden spiral, and hence are related to both φ and the Fibonacci series. In truth, spiral galaxies and nautilus shells (and many mollusk shells) exhibit logarithmic spiral growth, but at a variety of angles usually distinctly different from that of the golden spiral. This pattern allows the organism to grow without changing shape. **Hand-signed in pencil as StewartHR aka Czar Catstick & The Emperor's New Clothes Collective, via BFA.gallery Please contact (via Saatchi) if you have any further questions regards the paper sizes, formats or bespoke commission requests.
