About The Artwork

Geological surveys, photos of the outer space, satellite photos, astronomical maps, old portraits, ancient maps, I find the images that I subsequently rework on the web, I break them up and put them back together. Always driven by an unquenchable desire for research and experimentation, I went from creating these collages on paper to digital versions, finding new compositional solutions.

Cartographer, explorer esthete, I wonder if these are definitions that could represent me. Nature, science, exploration, archaeology and discovery have always seduced me. The varied and boundless iconography of these subjects has been shaping my aesthetic imagination since my childhood. There is a mystery hidden in the analogy amongst natural forms. Nature seems to follow the same patterns, both in the microcosm and in the sidereal spaces of the universe. I strive to look for this mystery, with the most playful aspects of creativity always in mind. Now – just like when I was a child – I imagine worlds that do not follow the laws of physics, multidimensional systems formed by multiple realities that change, overlap, intersect, influence and deform one another. Realities that are at the same time unknown lands, regions of celestial systems, details of sinuous bodies… Geological surveys, photos of the outer space, satellite photos, astronomical maps, old portraits, ancient maps, I find the images that I subsequently rework on the web, I break them up and put them back together. Always driven by an unquenchable desire for research and experimentation, I went from creating these collages on paper to digital versions, finding new compositional solutions. I am the cartographer of the metaphysical worlds I imagine, translating these worlds into oneiric geographical maps, marked by indecipherable signals and codes which invite us to explore these aimless universes. Rivers without sources, evanescent paths, islands without seas, I draw maps that disorient the eye of the most attentive observer. Borders become vague and subjective… they only have to be crossed! Maps therefore no longer represent a static acquisition of concepts but a challenge in which one gets confused, an ongoing process. The aim is that one gets lost to find oneself, in order to experience the transcendent dimension of beauty.
