About The Artwork

“My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys” is part of a larger portfolio, “See What I Hear”, of illustrations based on song lyrics. The song “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys” was written by Sharon Vaughn and made famous by Willie Nelson. The song transition from childhood dreams, “I grew up a-dreamin' of bein' a cowboy”, to the realization that many of our dreams fall short, “Cowboys are special with their own brand of misery / From being alone too long / You could die from the cold, in the arms of a nightmare / Knowin' well that your best days are gone.” The image size is 12 x 12 in. with a 2 in. boarder. The paper size is 16 x 16 in. The giclee print is numbered and signed in the boarder below the image.
