ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Original artwork inspired by Rothko style Color Field and Minimalism. I am inspired by large scale abstract paintings and try to think about fitting monumental size into smaller spaces. Acrylic paint is easier for me in respect to working in a smaller space and allows for more experimentation with other mediums such as ink, oil pastels and watercolor markers. I believe abstract art makes us think harder in regards to how we may feel about a piece. Since you cannot immediately pinpoint a figure, the viewer has to go into the recesses of the subconscious and form a thought or an idea about what's in front of them. Work is signed and dated on the back and comes ready for hanging. Can be hung as is or you may take to your local frame shop.

I am a predominately self-taught artist who took some college level art classes for approximately two years. I've been drawing since the tender age of 8, a time when Art was a part of the curriculum in school. I find the art world much more interesting and rewarding when studying and honing my skills independently. I enjoy seeking educational opportunities outside of the formal classroom in the form of art seminars, workshops, lectures, webinars, online courses and mentorship programs and the observance of surrounding nature. I love going to art shows, fairs and gallery openings. I also love collecting coffee table art books featuring the work of artists from all walks of life. I found in the long run that "just doing it" allows for much more experimentation on my part. And while I realize that there is nothing new under the sun and take great joy in the inspiration I receive from other artists whose work and technique I may follow, I strive to maintain my independence as an artist and a creator.
