ABOUT THE ARTWORK
It had been an absolutely gorgeous sunset. We admired it till it was gone. Later that night, I just couldn't sleep. I went to the studio around midnight and started playing with my pastels in an abstract manner, just putting down colors. Here I must say that I do not usually paint much in red. It is not my favorite color. I started painting with my more usual colors - blues, greens, violets, yellows. But it just wasn't working. I picked up a light pink and started to cover over the other colors - suddenly the pastels knew exactly where to go and before I knew it, I was done...and exhausted. The next morning, I found this on my easel. I loved it! Maybe I should sleep walk after gorgeous sunsets more often.

Once started, my paintings simply flow from my tools, which are varied and often unusual. Often, they seemingly come directly from my soul. I have painted all my life and experimented with realism, portraiture, plein air, mixed media and most all mediums, but right now, in this time of racial strife and Covid19, these have captured me and are feeding me like the perfect diet.
