ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Inspired by nothing in particular, I often start my painting from a complete void, but with an anticipation of what it might become. The process of a painting is like life. It is composed of each moment of action and reaction, sometimes with a calculated decision and often times by unexpected accidents. The veiled space is created with layers of colors, lines, marks, and textures. The ambiguous image, which is cut or suggested, is teasingly placed. The painting seems to be reminiscent of bringing back glimpses of memories, a time and a place that are vague and abstract. One might see the painting melancholic, but buoyant at the same time. The viewers are invited to discover and interpret their own reflections in the visual space.
