My primary interest is to create Pure Paintings which develop from a directed focus and response to the support, pigments and tools. I am searching for an art that is narrative neutral, self contained and free from reference to commercial, social or manufactured influences. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA (1976) and a Master Degree in Architecture (1979) having maintained an architectural practice until 2001 and painting practice since graduation. Since 2010 the scale of the work has evolved and the medium has changed from watercolor on paper to oil on linen. I live and work in San Rafael and the Sonoma Coast. current work is on this Saatchi website Activated Charcoal 2015 Painted Building Plans 2015 MaskBook- 2014 Pure Paintings 2010-14 Abstract Landscapes- (circa 2002-2015) Inspired by architectural and building plans. Initial drawing done with left hand with heavy willow charcoal marks. Oil on prepared paper, mounted on cradled panel with black floating frame.
