About The Artwork

This painting started out as a young male figure lying in a bathtub in the fetal position, the colors were jarring and violent and it seemed like he was cowering from them. The painting was never resolved to completion, but I loved the intensity and power of the colors I had used. I gave the canvas to a fellow artist and close friend of mine and he returned it with these splattered fields of color created by shooting cans of spray paint and a few bullet holes. The returned painting although in the same color family was a lot more muted in intensity so I decided to paint these floral shapes that reminded me of the sound a shotgun would make being fired.

Georgia based visual artist, and fashion designer Kenneth “Kenny” Jonas draws inspiration from the world of fashion and art history’s nude tradition. As a contemporary artist-- Jonas engages the social constructs centered on clothing and how it relates to our perception of other people and how we view ourselves. His prints, drawings and paintings are a contemporary view of the human figure. Initially, Jonas’ portraits were based on editorial photographs taken of fashion models. As his practice grew, he has shifted his gaze towards everyday people- an inclusive view. Kenneth “Kenny” Jonas received his BFA from Georgia Southern University in 2014, double majoring in Apparel design and 2D Studio art concentrating in drawing and painting.
