Adorn & Dissolve Print

This is the title piece to the solo show "Adorn & Dissolve" exhibited in 2019. This series is my attempt to understand and explore my experiences within the sexualized culture that surrounds my youth. I am confronted with the challenge of expressing what desire, safety, and seclusion feel like as a twenty-four-year-old female. As the subject of sexuality was overlooked for most of my life, expression and exploration can still feel forbidden. I am using nature as a stage, which is most familiar to me. Much of my experience growing up was spent exploring the tall forests of my home. I have a longing for that space of solitude and stillness. It is there that the liberation of my mind takes place. It seems fitting that I unravel the questions female form and why the narrative feels most natural among the trees. I am searching to create a space for voyeurism and quiet exploration. Where description ends and freedom of imagination and sensation set in.
