ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of cinema. In a career spanning six decades, he directed over 50 feature films. Known as the "Master of Suspense", his films garnered 46 Academy Award nominations, including six wins, although he never won the award for Best Director, despite five nominations. I paint works that hold a story to intrigue and invite the viewer in. By focusing on one eye it makes the gaze of the subject more intense and the connection with those viewing deeper. I couldn't resist adding a lapel pin of a bird to his jacket, referencing one of his most famous movies, The Birds. This painting is one of a series of Hollywood Icons completed in Acrylic Paint on Paper in 2022.

UK born Mark Feakins, grew up in Sussex before moving to London to go to drama school. After a brief time as an actor and running his own theatre company, he began work in theatre mangement and went on to produce work at the Young Vic, Bloomsbury Theatre in London and as Executive Producer of Sheffield Theatres Outside of the world of theatre he won Channel 4’s Come Dine with Me in 2010, retired to Spain in 2019, has sixteen of his paintings in El Studio Art Gallery in Benijofar and has published four novels.
