ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Am'ma was inspired by the collection's purpose of spotlighting endangered creatures, however this tiger has a a personal story attached to her. The tiger was inspired by my travels to India, where I met the most amazing woman. I knew her as Am'ma (അമ്മ), meaning mother in Malayalam. She had endured poor health, abuse and sexism and yet when you looked in her eyes she was as fierce, intelligent and beautiful as a tiger. It was a privilege to know her, hence why this piece is in honour of her. Useful info - With acrylics I aimed to achieve a smooth yet 'busy' visual texture without being too aggressively textured. Hanging hardware not included.
