"Are you sure you have made up your mind?" It marks a pivotal moment, a conscious decision to break free from destructive relationship patterns silently woven into life's fabric. In the shadows, some individuals thrive on being in control, and for too long, their authority has been allowed and supported at the expense of personal well-being. The realization dawns that these dynamics must shift. The journey is a deliberate stride toward relationships where equality, compassion, and understanding are not just cherished ideals but lived principles. This understanding didn't materialize overnight; it took years to grasp and begin embodying these values fully. The driving force behind this transformation is a profound necessity—one that extends beyond personal liberation. As a parent, the commitment to break free from detrimental patterns is fueled by a profound motivation: the welfare of a child. The understanding emerges that the child cannot inherit the same burdens that have been carried for so long. The quality of life becomes intrinsically tied to the people chosen to be part of it, and the acknowledgment surfaces that not all choices have been wise. The responsibility for those choices is embraced. The turning point is illuminated by a declaration: "Time to wear my own crown, not to let others take it from me. It is mine." The narrative boldly asserts the reclaiming of personal sovereignty, acknowledging that being in charge of oneself requires careful listening to one's inner voice. Drawing inspiration from indigenous practices of quiet listening and observing nature, the journey unfolds as an exploration of the inner landscape. The metaphorical wearing of one's crown becomes an anthem of self-empowerment—a commitment to honour personal agency and resilience in the face of past choices. The story, therefore, becomes a testament to the courage it takes to redefine relationships, rewrite narratives, and step into the sovereign space of self-determination.

Most of these artworks were created several years ago, creatively processing the early days of learning later in life; I was Autistic (among other brain differences), and the challenges I faced when I made adjustments in my relationships based on my neurobiological differences and diverse needs. The digital artworks were created for a podcast my friend and I had together, where we unpacked our experiences as neurodivergent humans. My approach involves asking probing questions specifically created to uncover complex traumas. I developed a method of self-inquiry and introspection designed to bring awareness to one's inner world. By delving into my subconscious and exploring the reasons behind my choices, beliefs, and emotional responses, I essentially acknowledge and understand myself at a deeper level. This self-awareness is crucial in personal growth, healing, and making positive changes. I work with paint, pencil, ink, spray paint, recycled substrate, fabric, clay, and vintage materials to assist the self-understanding, acknowledging and positive change process. My work involves asking, waiting, watching, quiet listening, inner knowing, storytelling, memories and subconscious answers.
