Born in a small village in the north of France, my artistic training began at Valenciennes in 1961. I paint with regularity from 1961 to 1978 and participate in several exhibitions in the north of France and Paris. From 1967 to 72, I used acrylic and aerosol bombs on large formats: plastic Sheets of 6 meters by 4 meters, cartons of 4 m by 4 m, plywood of 2.50 m by 1.20 m . Over the years, I've mainly used the canvas as a medium in standard formats. The themes are autobiographical. Painting is figurative : belfries, churches, showcases, familiar characters, trains, subways, trams, but also flowers, buoys, phones. ..... The painting composed of block of colors and simple shapes is a basic and balanced composition. Each painting tells a story. Write a novel or draw a painting, it's a bit the same process. The content should be the basis of the shape and vice versa. The pictorial Formalization of autobiographical events, the representation of sensations by figurative and symbolic forms are the creative force. Figurative and abstraction often overlap on the painting. Edgar Degas said "" Put on a canvas what you see, that's fine. Paint what has been stored in your memory, it is much better. It is a metamorphosis of what is kept in memory ...... ' I work and live near Paris.
