About The Artwork

B-29 "SuperFortress" We can do it! 82 x 130 cm, 2020, hardboard, oil. On the reverse side, the painting is reinforced with wooden planks painted with gold enamel. To maintain the structure reinforced with galvanized metal corners. A series of works entitled "Cargo Cult" is dedicated to aviation and its impact on humans. The project is named after the religious cult of the inhabitants of Melanesia that existed during the 2nd World War. In the Russian writer V. Pelevin in the novel "Empire V", all human activity is similar to the Cargo cult and arose due to the cry of the Great Mouse, the expression of which is an airplane flying in the sky. An airplane thus becomes a dream that exists in the mind of every person. I tried to imagine by means of painting how this dream might look like an airplane in the eyes of ordinary islanders. For this, the object was taken as the basis of the composition, from which the development of meanings in the form of geometric abstract ornaments, intuitively revealing on the image plane the foundations of the magical perception of reality by people, was taken. Thus, an airplane performs the role of an artifact that exists in a real plane and at the same time is a guide to the world of magic and sorcery. In the modern world, many people would like to realize the so-called "American dream", the expression of which is the US Air Force, bringing democracy and prosperity to even the farthest corners of our planet. And yes, "We can do it" is echoed by the poster on the plane.
