ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I paint the pictures that I would like to see: merged abstract and figurative modes with a story or a definite image and an identity. I like to create recognisable spaces in which something abstract can happen. This was inspired by some cliffs on the Peloponnese shore. Of course the sea was not black but it was very deep and I have represented this with some very deep layers of highly varnished to contrast with the matt reds impasto of the cliffs. The cliffs can be read as body parts. It's about heat. Unframed, but hangings can be attached to the frame, if requested. Signed and dated on the back.
