Born in 1943 in China and has been a resident in Los Angeles since 2003. Since his early childhood, he was influenced by his talented mother with traditional embroidery and scissor cutting skills. He has a profound love and passion for art and painting, and was trained strictly by the famous artist Xiangzhai Cong in teenage. When Lei started studying engineering at one of the top Chinese STEM universities Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1960s, he became the leading painter at the Painting Art Club. Lei never stop oil painting from then even during working as an engineer. He studied and copy-painted tremendous classic and immortal masterworks of Raphael, Michelangelo, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Llya Repin … After retired in 2000s, he dedicates into discovering and retelling human being’s loves, emotions and living stories by oil painting of portraits and landscapes.
