About The Artwork

This canvas took 2.5 years to complete. I hung it in the studio when we first moved to Nashville, May 2016. It was created from a mixture of deliberate brushstrokes and writing and a lot of random backsplash/bleed-through/overlay from other paintings. It was hung in the studio as the backdrop to cover the wall to catch all the paint coming off of other pieces i was working on, but I always had the intention of it being its own piece when the time was right. Because it hung on the wall for so long, and collected layers & layers of paint over the 2+ years, it has been stretched/pulled in irregular ways - meaning it is not an exact rectangle anymore - so if it were to be stretched, the person doing so will definitely have their work cut out for them. Because it is so large, I wasn't able to get a full picture of it until I hung it in my first Nashville solo show in October 2018. It was the focal point of an installation that was my studio, just in a much bigger space, so disregard the small canvases on the left, the paint cans, and carpets on the floor. My current studio's name is BRICKBLACK, hence the title.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Main goal: I’m just trying to make dope art. 2nd goal: And hopefully one day make a living off it. Ive always been artistic. I just didn’t know you could be an artist as a job. I always liked to draw. My school papers had more drawings, sketches and scribbles than correct answers. I started writing poems/songs around 13/14ish. I tried writing novels and comics with my brother Ryan in junior high. Beginning of 10th grade I began taking a 3 hour Drafting & Design extra-curriculum class 5 days a week until I graduated high school, realizing although I love, appreciate and have a passion for architecture - it’s not a career for me. The summer of 2001 is really where it all culminated - a friend showed me his graffiti, how to make stencils, etc. I made my first stencil and used a can a spray paint on a few utility boxes, and haven’t put it down since. self-taught. outsider. painter. writer. singer. director. editor. email me for inquiries about the rest of my portfolio. or prices. thescenerymediacentre@gmail.com
