ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This new painting shows my recent attempts to simplify and make my work more spontaneous/expressionist and less "mannered," By choosing larger brushes and a looser, more rapid application of paint, I covered most of a previous painting whose satisfying resolution had continued to elude me. The main image was taken with overhead plus natural light. Many of my favorites are works that have been born in the destruction of previous work. This is on a cradled birch panel. The sides are unfinished, oiled wood, and it is ready to hang.
