ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My cat Katie jumped up on the kitchen counter one day to relax in my empty bread basket. I love painting cats and have painted sixteen of them over the years. I have a set of notecards that features eight of the cats. I loved the challenge of creating the red and white tea towel which lined the basket. The painting is in a double archival mat with an inner red border and a 2 inch white mat.

I have painted in watercolors for over thirty years. I received most of my art education in Denver, Colorado where I studied with a wonderful artist named Harold A Wolfinbarger Jr. He studied at The Art Institute of New York and shared all of his knowledge with his students who like me studied with him for long periods of time. I moved to Rockport Maine in 2000 and owned a bed and breakfast and art gallery which was across the street from the Wyeth Center called WindingWay Bed and Breakfast and Art Gallery. Andrew Wyeth’s work influenced my development as did another Maine artist, Winslow Homer . Along with them I love to paint people by the sea in large hats. In 2000 I moved to the coast of North Carolina. Southport is a beautiful small town on the Cape Fear river and the Atlantic Ocean. I now am enjoying painting the beautiful, marshes, the ocean and oh yes women on the beach in large hats. I hope you enjoy my work.
