'Concrete Cast' is an expressionist, abstract and textured work of art. Think, industrial interior design, weathered, old rustic, faded walls within a modern living environment and there you have todays contemporary design. This new collection was inspired by travel to rural rustic locations and viewing the stone and concrete patina designs of old architecture and weathered walls. Intricate in its creation, I first used layers of textured gesso then overlaying acrylic paint with different tools to then imitate the beautiful textures and colours of times gone by. This way of painting gives more diversity and freedom of expression whilst creating a unique and modern piece of art for a contemporary setting either in the home, restaurant or retail business or in the office work space. The artwork has been painted on stretched cotton canvas with a deep edge, and sides painted in a dark finish. It is ready to hang with fixtures and fittings in place but if you prefer can be framed in a style that suits your interior setting. This unique piece of art will have maximum impact on any wall surface creating a rugged modernist feel to your interior design.

Janet works from her studio in South Cambridgeshire, as a freelance artist, supplying semi abstract, impressionistic and fine art to publishing companies worldwide. Her paintings are sold from galleries throughout the South of England and internationally via the web. She has become a much recognized artist for her subject matter and her unique creative style of work. ʺI enjoy experimenting with all mediums but watercolor and acrylic are the ones I find most satisfying. Depending on the subject, I find that it would either lend itself more to the delicate touches of watercolor or to the stronger and more vibrant colors of acrylic paint and each would allow me to translate a ‘mood’ a subject might evoke”. I have come to realize that it’s not ‘what you paint’ that is important, but ‘how you paint it’. So in my interpretation of painting a subject, I try to maintain the essence of what first inspired me to paint it. For me, what is fundamental in my paintings are light, subtlety of color, harmony, depth and drama, while still staying true to the subject. In my finished work, I hope that I have conveyed to the viewer a sense of mood, which was present at the time of painting it.ʺ
