ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The painting, created with white stucco flowing in a continuous stream, portrays a visual narrative of an inner journey through the quest for direction, both physical and moral. The dense and shapeless texture of the artwork represents the tumult of human experiences, a river in constant evolution winding from top to bottom. The use of white, black, and gray spray paint contributes to creating a visual contrast, emphasizing the nuances of human complexity. White symbolizes purity and the possibility of rebirth, black represents challenges and the darkness encountered along the way, while gray reflects the nuanced nature of moral decisions. The movement of the stucco flow towards the center of the canvas indicates a convergence of inner forces, a focus towards a reference point. This center could be interpreted as a symbol of the search for meaning and direction in life, a point of balance amid chaos. The upward path of the stucco flow represents the potential for personal growth and overcoming challenges. The painting thus serves as an ode to human resilience, a continuous search for clarity in a world filled with uncertainties and moral contrasts. In this way, the artwork provides a space for reflection on ethical choices and the challenges that characterize the individual journey, inviting the observer to contemplate their own inner journey in search of direction and meaning.

My name is Stefano, born in 2000, and this is a brief summary of my artistic journey. I immersed myself in the magnificent world of contemporary art during the second half of my high school studies, falling in love with Van Gogh's post-impressionist paintings accompanied by the captivating literature of Pascoli's decadentism. After graduating from a scientific high school, I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera (Milan) where I obtained my degree in painting. My early works, dating back to 2016/2017, were unique compositions that encompassed the "Divine Triad of the Arts," namely painting, poetry, and music. After pursuing this project for three years and producing a significant body of work (approximately 40 pieces), I decided to change direction and explore the capabilities of materials in all their aspects, giving them the opportunity to narrate themselves to our naive gaze, attributing to them a meaning beyond their mere objecthood. It is from this point that the series of works titled "The Material of the Gaze" began, a conceptual attempt to tell the story of Plato's hyperuranion and an intrinsic invitation to go beyond the normality of sight. It is an invitation to truly See, delving deep into the soul of things, beyond their mere craftsmanship or color. With this technique, I embarked on a true search for my identity and style, and I believe that as I progress in my studies, this approach will accompany me in every aspect of my artistic evolution.
