A new Africa, a new vision; futurism are the new elements of my work as I continue to push the image towards envisioning a new Africa. Elegance, style, confidence, and pride are major themes of my vision as I continue to tell the African story, words like art voices, the new faithful are social commentaries common in my use of newsprint, which interplay with the fabrics creating a dynamics that define my mixed media style.
The rebellious pose implies resistance to the western culture in which they have been caught up in for ages, their newfound discovery of their identity shows they yearn for self-pride from their newfound culture as apply my Afro-futuristic vision.
I want the viewer to feel or get a feeling of nostalgia most especially those from the African descent, the texture, color, mixed media are major elements that initiate this wistful affection.

My name is Stephen Aifegha, I was born in Lagos state; the western part of Nigeria often known as the New York of Nigeria, due to its metropolitan structure backed up with the daily hustle and bustle. My artistic practice is influenced by my identity and culture as an African, being born and raised in Nigeria. My subject matter and narrative as a contemporary African artist revolves around Post-colonialism, centering on historical, social, and cultural issues that concern Africa today. My art is an activism regarding these problems and issues faced by the continent of Africa. It draws back to post-colonial setbacks that have caused tremendous distress for Africa today.  I am a mixed media artist who uses original African fabrics and newsprint as a major element in my art, the African fabrics are used to show my identity as an African and give an insight into my subject matter or narrative as it concerns issues regarding the African continent and the diaspora, the newsprint at the other hand, I use to seek texture and make social commentary. Both the fabrics and newsprint put together create a feeling of dynamism to the viewer.
