Tsanava's artwork is based on his exploration of life and how different emotions interact with each other. He has dabbled into many different art forms, from photography to videography, but, as he says, has never found anything as expressive as oil paint touching raw, naked canvas. Throughout his life, Nick has fought his inner urge to create and destroy, as dictated by his thought pattern. His unique approach is a derivative of his distinctive way of seeing and perceiving reality. "When schizophrenia is not an excuse, when paranoia is a source of joy, illusions are coming to life on canvas - and that is who I am." Creating unconventional patterns on canvas using paint and different materials, he finds soundless joy in being a creator. But it all comes naturally to him, he isn't painting for any purpose really, he is painting because it "the abstract figures simply can not be contained in the mind and they have to bleed out on the canvas".
