This piece was inspired by Charlotte Rampling in The Damned. It reminded me of the social ritual of the dinner party, like in Buñuel's film The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie. All the things that can't be mentioned, and all the roles that are played, and how to stay oneself in the midst of refinement and cultural mores. And it made me think of a quote from Viriginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse, “Not as oneself did one find rest ever, but as a wedge of darkness. Losing personality, one lost the fret, the hurry, the stir.”
