Painting: Oil, Color, neon pink , Ink, Plaster on Canvas, Cardboard, Paper.
As I was waiting at a street light, this Donut building caught my attention as it was all pink, with its big bold black letters. I knew instantly I needed to paint it to include it in my collection of buildings of LA in which I threw some neon pink ink on. When I think about LA I think about neon pink, because of the sunset and of the concept of LALALAND, so this Donut Shop in itself represented LA to me. I also wanted to re-create the roughness of the street walls and pavements of LA by applying a plaster and old newspaper as the basis of my painting and then I painted on it. The roughness of LA is covered with an explosion of pink in this painting to represent the vibrant energy of LA.
