ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Inspired by that adrenaline rush from waking from a dream of falling. The moment right before you crash. Rituals, breaking objects, self-destruction, and overcoming demons. Also inspired by Bjork's song, Hyperballad, she throws things off a cliff to watch them crash, a necessary ritual. Embracing darkness to find the light and happiness. I want viewers to feel the energy of the movement of color across the canvas. This is a power piece to reconnect with our inner child and the divine feminine.

I am a painter and mixed media artist living and working in Atlanta, GA. My paintings are a whirlwind of bright colors on canvas. Most days, I'll tell you the vibrancy is about positivity and always looking for the good in the world, but some days it's about the futility and superficiality of it all. My works seeks balance from life's dualities: chaos and control, happiness and sadness, darkness and light. Daily abundance of visual and auditory information, the preciousness of nature, mass consumerism, and the divine feminine drive the narrative. Bright neons are a nod to my eighties childhood, and the gold leaf is both jab and homage to opulence and bourgeoise. Fond of oddities, atypical aesthetics, and counterculture, my figures and environments take on an altered, abstracted manifestation. I find perfection a curious impossibility, preferring to embrace disorder with maximalist color, patterns, drips, and large brushstrokes smearing over surfaces.
