ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is a small painting which includes one section of metallic gold and an overlapping form made using acrylic paint pen. This is from a series that incorporates different colors of acrylic pen within the solid backgrounds of different patterns. At certain angles or in certain light, part of the form that goes over the metallic paint section becomes creates a unique visual sense. Please view extra photos of the artwork from different angles as well as in a sample frame (frame not included). Signed on lower right and will come with a Certificate of Authenticity. Thank you for your interest in my artwork!

I am an American abstract artist focusing on the interplay of simple abstract forms and the contrast created through selective use of colors, particularly with the use of the metallic colors of copper, gold, and silver. Raised in Southern California but currently based in Colorado, my work is influenced by the Color-field and Hard Edge Minimalism of the 1960’s and my unique art forms are particularly drawn from the abstract paintings of Le Corbusier, Alexander Calder and Leon Polk Smith. An added emphasis of contrast in texture is also achieved by the careful application of paint using rollers on textured paper, creating a texture similar to highly refined silk of Japanese kimonos that appears more pronounced when viewed from different angles and more reflective light. Many of the abstract forms I create are influenced by my lengthy stays in both Japan and the UAE and the subsequent stylistic forms of the written languages of Japanese Kanji and Arabic.
