(b. 1982 Czarna Woda, Poland),lived in Kingston upon Hull(UK), lives and works in Singapore. I completed MFA with distinction at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, Poland in 2007. I create artworks predominantly in the medium of painting and sculpting. I am interested in creating artworks about life and everything that surrounds us with its pathos. Recently I investigate contemporary problems like Refugee, fatherhood and motherhood, obesity, riots, conflicts, politics, environmental and social issues(identity, racism) https://marcinbbiesek.wixsite.com/stonemadeflesh/copy-of-latest-artworks https://catholicartistconnection.com/blog/5v6x9zon1ug84v3jw689bh2qz7w12p I would like to expand / explore my series of artworks called Mapping the City of new ones, inspired by Singapore city architecture, urban planning, politics mixed with digitalised 3D sculptures influenced by social distancing, cyberspace and internet. Mapping the City was my dissertation piece and was coordinated by prof. Stanislaw Radwanski at Fine Art Academy in Gdańsk. I painted wooden, geometric units and hung them in the room, turning an idea of the city into the minimalistic concept. Some of the created abstract patterns showed urban planning of the Gdansk and political influence of that process. In 2018 I started work on series of artworks (painting/sculptures) called Bystanders, where I am revolving around the questions of crisis, struggles of everyday alienation and how we stand as a bystander, watch and read about adversities that take place in various spaces.
