ABOUT THE ARTWORK
One of my favorite paintings is Fire in the Evening (1929) by Paul Klee. I admire Klee's ability to combine an idealistic, Modernist aesthetic with a universal human experience. He was able to imbue non-objective visual language with personality and make it relatable. My idea for this painting was to bring the fire from outdoors to indoors. The literal fire becomes figurative and represents a cozy, romantic evening at home.
