About The Artwork

She lives forever, she lives for children, she lives for grandchildren, she lives for people. She is a woman, not just a mythological bird. The myth from ancient Egypt describes a bird which dies in fire giving life to its offspring and resurrects from its own ashes again and again. A beautiful allegory of immortality. No one believes in this fable as no one has ever seen the Phoenix bird, but this is so wrong. In fact, we all see her on the streets, at work, at home, and even in the mirror. Both in ancient Egypt and in today’s society, a woman is the phoenix bird of all mankind. Her blood supports a baby during 9 months and her milk nourishes it after the birth. Every day a mother gives away a piece of herself and every day she resurrects in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This bond cannot be broken and it cannot be seen as well. Science cannot explain it because it is real magic. “Phoenix” painting is just about that. The canvas depicts two women on a neutral background which transfers the plot from real life to a timeless context. Who are they? Friends, sisters, mother and daughter, women of the same tribe. It does not matter. Their bodies are entwined together. The colorful patterns of their dresses are in contrasts with their faces and shoulders. Their natural grace is so beautiful, but their faces reveal inner tension and spiritual contemplation. They are not women of the real world because we can read the history of the mankind of all times in their eyes. These eyes have seen the “deluge” and the wars of Hannibal, a wonderful fertile world and hunger, so they can tell the future of the mankind. There is no place for death. The Phoenix bird will resurrect from the ashes and revive people with the power of its love.
